We got a call from ART a little after 7am this morning. Of the 18 eggs that were retrieved (8-12 retrieved is average) 12 of the eggs were mature! ICSI was performed- the sperm were individually placed into each mature egg for fertilization to (hopefully) occur. Statistically, fertilization with ICSI takes place in 70% of the eggs. We have 11 fertilized eggs!! All of the prayers that are being said for us and this process are so evident!! 2 days ago our doctor wanted us to start over again and now our results are way better than average! That just goes to show that Go is in control of it all no matter what! They will leave the embies in the incubator for the rest of the day today and all day tomorrow. We will get an update on Monday morning. For the next few days we need the embryos to continue dividing properly. Today they are 2 celled and hopefully by Wednesday they will continue to divide to form into 70-100 cell blastocysts.
Our last cycle we had 9 eggs retrieved and 7 of them fertilized. On day 3 we had 6 good quality embryos. When we went to transfer on day 5 we had only not so good quality embyro left.
This is an extremely crucial time and as usual your prayers are very much appreciated!!
